Trash Bar is one of the best dive bars in NYC. The staff is also one of the friendliest in town. Just ask them for a restaurant recommendation before heading in for a show, and they will list more than ten all over Williamsburg, complete with detailed directions. Based on the bouncer's recommendation, we headed to Walter’s Food across the street, and the combination of a great dinner followed by drinks and great music at Trash Bar was a guaranteed fun night in NYC.
The name - Trash Bar - is suggestive of grime, but the bar is no dirtier or cleaner than other music venues in NYC. What sets Trash Bar apart from other music venues, however, is that the front of the bar is actually conducive to talking and hanging out; the live performances are beyond the red velvet curtains towards the back of the bar. While many bars showcase great local bands, at Trash Bar, you can enjoy the live performances, then take a break at the bar in between sets. The crowd is a mix of locals and groupies following their favorite bands. Trash Bar books great talent, like Odd Zero, so if you like live music, make sure to check out the shows at Trash Bar and relax at the bar with a few beers and your date.
