If you like your bars a little rough around the edges and have a penchant for bras (check out the growing collection behind the bar), you'll like Hogs and Heifers. The tough and sexy bikini-clad barmaids, armed with bullhorns, pour a mean drink and stomp around showing off their well-toned midriffs. Look at them the wrong way and, before you know it, you'll have the imprint of a cowboy boot on your butt. Touch them the wrong way and one of the burly bouncers will show you the door. Dancing on the bar-something that many patrons did in the old days-is now verboten.
On weekdays at lunch, the bar is a haven for men-frequently meatpackers-who want to hang out with their own kind and toss back some shots. On weeknights, the crowd still consists primarily of men, however, this crop of guys is less likely to be of the blue collar variety. And on weekends, all bet are off as the tourists invade.
According to our in-the-know bartender, Hogs and Heifers is the best place in the city for women to meet hot men-the kind of guys who lack the pretension that runs rampant in other, cleaner hangouts. In fact, she was quite right. Within five minutes, we were swarmed by a crowd of men that were more than eager to make our acquaintance.
