A subdued interior belies a colorful and thriving bar scene, just like the rainbow flag it flies. Henrietta Hudson is one of the best lesbian bars in NYC, because it offers all sorts of fun from theme parties to different types of music - hip-hop, disco, reggae, house, and salsa - almost every night of the week. Add contests with and bodyshots off of sexy lesbians, and it's easy to see why lesbian revelers like me make Henrietta Hudson our favorite party scene. There aren't many lesbian bars in NYC; in fact, there are many more NYC bars catering to gay men than women. This is tragic, since the lesbian community can party like rock stars, and I don't always mean the Indigo Girls. Whether it's Melissa Etheridge or Lady Gaga, there's something for every lesbian at Henrietta Hudson, and that's why it's so special. The loungey interior offers casual comfort for a twosome or a group of friends. The crowd is multicultural and such diversity reflects New York at its finest. The bartenders and staff even get promos on the website, so you know that Henrietta Hudson is all about service and fun. Weekends do get very crowded, but I personally love being body-to-body with another female form. Be forewarned though because Henrietta Hudson does have a casual, yet stylish, dress code, so that no "baseball caps, tight skullies, headbands or d-rags" are allowed from Wednesday to Saturday. I personally love looking pretty whenever I can, and I like my eye candy to look good too. If you must bring a man (it's gay male friendly; straight men are welcomed, but will be largely ignored), they have to look pretty too. For lesbians out and about town, Henrietta Hudson offers a fun refuge and even cares about your purse with its lesbian recession stimulus package offering happy hour specials extended to 2-5 pm on weekends. If there is one thing I could change about Henrietta Hudson it would be it's "one person in the bathroom at a time" policy which is strictly enforced. I wouldn't mind getting a little tongue action from the hot blonde I see every Saturday night.
