- The Crosby Bar is a great new addition to the NYC bar scene. A soaring ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows, and colorful couches create a sexy bar scene frequented by an international and well-heeled crowd. After recently planning a friend's 20-plus person birthday celebration there, I returned with a female friend for a more intimate check of the bar scene. The Crosby Bar is located on the lobby level of the Crosby Street Hotel. With innovative drinks like Pillow Talk - Framboise eau de vie, Lillet Rouge, Crème de cacao, lemon, and Champagne - it's easy to remember that this is a hotel bar. It's also easy to have several drinks and, suddenly, be conversing with two attractive British men about the Euro's decline. The crowd at the bar is diverse with a good sampling of all ages, so, if you're in your 40s, you will not feel like you're at a college frat party. I don't advocate drinking at someone else's expense, necessarily, but cocktail prices are steep at $18. The Crosby Bar might just have the most expensive cocktails in NYC, except, of course, for the Trump World Bar's $50 cocktail infused with gold flakes. While we had a fantastic time at the Crosby Bar, we each paid more than $100 (including tip) for three drinks. I do plan to go back since the crowd is friendly and unpretentious, despite appearances, and I'm looking forward to enjoying the garden courtyard in warmer weather, but one drink may have to be my limit.
