- My main complaint about Bongo is that I don't live closer to both the Bongo Chelsea - 10th Avenue between 27th and 28th Streets - and Bongo West Village - 95 West Street (corner of 10th Street and the Westside Highway) - locations. Alas, I have to make the trek cross-town, but each time, I am happy to do it. My favorite is Bongo West Village, only because that location is larger with three different rooms - a bar area, the living room, and a den; each room suits my many different moods. Otherwise, both locations offer an eclectic cocktail menu and funky art. Bongo West Village hosts artwork by American modernists, Charles and Ray Eames, and George Nelson, among others. Bongo West Village also offers a seafood menu, with an extensive oyster selection. Relaxing in a spacious and artsy environment, with delicious (and strong!) cocktails and oysters might just be my favorite past-time. Take a sexy date, and you have the makings of a very romantic evening.
