Batista is one of many bar/lounges that line first avenue below 14th street. Like similar bars in the neighborhood, Batista has a casual vibe, but, unlike the others, it also has a naughty side. On the first Thursday of each month, is hosts The Baroness' Monthly Fetish Retinue party, complete with the requisite BDSM apparatus in the back area. Rubber, leather, and PVC-clad fetish kinksters abound, and meet, mingle and play at Batista. On other nights of the month, Batista has a loyal clientele. The semi-circular booths are nice for dates and groups of friends to hang out comfortably. The staff is always friendly and inviting. I've been to Batista a few times, and it never gets too crowded. It's a nice change from the velvet rope attitude.
