After turning up the sexual heat at dinner at nearby Mercer Kitchen, my date suggested we "get a room", as the saying goes. The offer was difficult to turn down, especially since he recommended a room at the Crosby Street Hotel. NYC has many swanky boutique hotels, but after a few fun excursions to the Crosby Street Hotel Bar with friends, I was eager to check out the rooms.
Despite the minimalist decor, the lobby is charming and warm. We checked in quickly, without even a sly glance from the staff; I guess that hotel staffers have seen it all. Room rates are not cheap at the Crosby Street Hotel, as we paid more than $500 for one night; however, unlike other similarly priced hotels in the neighborhood, like the Soho Grand, I was pleasantly surprised to see that a standard room at the Crosby Street Hotel is actually spacious. The room felt more like a luxurious bedroom, than a pea-sized hotel room - standard fare even at the trendiest of NYC hotels. It was further set apart by beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows. Although our intent was to fuck each other until blind, which we did, or at least until we were exhausted and feel asleep, the room's subdued colors and floor-to-ceiling view onto the outside world made our fuckfest seem less carnal and more romantic. The large bathroom was great too, because we weren't tripping over each other during our shower the next morning.
NYC has some great hotels for a quick fuck - see our review of the Liberty Inn - but for something more elegant and romantic, albeit expensive, I recommend the Crosby Street Hotel.
