My husband and I like to frequent hotels in NYC. I don't mean the "by-the-hour" ones, although I hear that the Liberty Inn is fantastic, but the boutique hotels that cater to a hip and urban clientele. We do this whenever we can, and while comfort, luxury and cleanliness are our minimum standards, we always like to explore alternative options that aren't $500 a night.
After some drinks and kissing at the still-trendy 230 Fifth, we thought we'd try the Ace Hotel. On the edge of Chelsea and the Flatiron District, Ace offers artsy rooms at affordable rates - less than $200 depending on the room and season; by NYC standards, that is a great rate. And with the uber-cool, Breslin Bar and Dining Room in the hotel lobby, we hoped that the hotel would match the hipness of its resident bar/lounge/restaurant. Fortunately, the reality matched our expectations. If you are looking for large rooms, especially if you're looking to accommodate more than 3 in your sex-play, try the The Bryant Park Hotel, but, if room size is not an issue, then the Ace Hotel is perfect. The lower rate rooms are small but creatively designed by local NYC artists. As a sex retreat, especially after watching - and/or participating in - some fun at Le Trapeze or Paddles nearby, the Ace offers a comfortable bed and the right amount of NYC edginess to fuel more sex-play. Staying at the Ace Hotel is like going to a cool party and then stealing away into one of the bedrooms to have sex. Try it the next time you're horny.
