The Exotic Erotic Ball and Expo, which has been held in San Francisco since 1979, is now titillating New Yorkers (2006 is the debut year) with the greatest (adult) show on earth. Part masquerade, part burlesque, and part rock concert, the Ball features live music, DJs, erotic performers, exotic dancers, theme rooms, fantasy halls, BDSM demos, and fetishwear fashion shows.
Held in the sprawling 140,000 square-foot space at Pier 94 along the Hudson River, the festivities are spread out between the Main, Burlesque, Fetish, and Bling Bling stages, as well as the Expo area, which features vendors showcasing the latest in exotic fashion, erotic art, adult products, games, websites, and novelties. Adult star, (and creator of the popular “Open Source Sex” podcast) Violet Blue, emcees crowd favorites like “Spank the Porn Star” and “Wheel of Humiliation” on the Main Stage, but those who get off on legal terminology can attend panel discussions on First Amendment rights with adult performers and members of the media. There are also wine tastings with adult film stars, psychic readings and massage, body painting, a classic adult cinema, and even a human petting zoo.
