Dances of Vice bring back the eroticism and sensuality of the bygone eras of the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Each theme-inspired party has both an underground and old-world feel. The Valentine's Day party, "Secrets of Coquettes", had a sexy jazz theme, with elements of burlesque and vintage lingerie. Other parties offer blues, swing, tango, calypso, cabaret, and other types of music as guests meet, mingle and dance. Dances of Vice parties also feature burlesque performers, musical ensembles, fashion shows, and artists. The highlight of each event, however, is the beautifully attired guests and the woman who started it all - Shien Lee - the modern incarnation of the New Romantic age. Since the inception of Dances of Vice in 2007, guests - "elegant dandies, aesthetes, romantics and ne'er-do-wells" - come together to recapture the decadence and beauty of these forgotten times. Guests must dress the theme - vintage, Victorian, Edwardian, flapper, etc. - or in formal attire. Anything from your grandmother's flapper dress to avant-garde interpretations of the themes is acceptable, as long as there is an appreciation for these eras. Overt sex-play does not take place, but as these were erotic times, the sexual energy at Dances with Vice is equally strong.
