Re-branding and the Double-edged Sword
Of all the most absurd things - EroticNewYork.com renamed itself because it was being mistaken for a pornographic site, and those who did not find actual fucking on our pages went away disgruntled. At the SAME TIME, on the opposite end, it was being mislabeled as a pornographic site (because of the word "erotic" in the domain name) and, thus, shunned/condemned by those offended by the perception of "pornographic" content.
Now - tell me, please - how absurd is that?!! Again - that word, "erotic"... with its "iffy" connotations. I have always liked the word, but I am beginning to LOVE it. It is SO mercurial and mysterious. It is imbued with a power all its own and possesses unquantifiable properties...And WHAT A THREAT that is!!! Right ON! It's a word that can spark a revolution!
Shall we fan the flames, then? Lets!! What is the real nature of obscenity? Is it obscene to witness people fucking (or simply to imagine them doing so without actually seeing it?), and yet NOT obscene to place oneself ABOVE your fellow humans, looking down on - outright hassling - them for their differences and choices with which you may disagree (but should respect - or, at least, tolerate, so long as they cause no harm to another)? Assuming the mantle of demagoguery and appointing oneself judge and jury is among the greatest OBSCENITIES of all!
Here, on the newly re-branded Phrolix.com, there is a wonderland of sexy and edgy information. So, even if you were looking for one thing (i.e. fucking), wouldn't you be happy still to have found this other source for sensual adventure in New York City?
Well - guess not, eh??? One thing that chaps my Transylvanian ass is this: people being all caught up in limitation and categorization - whether you're the one looking for porn or running away from it. If sex and sexuality are not an incitation to explore the human imagination and to transcend perceived boundaries of reality, then YOU AIN'T DOING 'EM RIGHT. But that's just my opinion...
Someone who recently read my blog told me that I sounded angry. Perhaps there is anger in my words, at times. But, as John Lydon (one of my favorite righteous malcontents) declaims in the very excellent, Public Image Limited, song - Rise - "Anger is an energy..."
Perhaps, I will become the Louis Black of the erotic world in NYC. So be it. In righteousness, there is anger. In passion, there is anger. In anger, there is often motivation toward productive change.
Anger can be sensual, if directed and felt in a constructive way. I have found that I seem to be beautiful when I'm angry...Really! I will be out and about, pissed off about something and oh - the looks of interest I get from others. They seem to become all stirred up, feeling my volatile energy bubbling in their midst.
