"We destroy our own naturalness." One of my dearest mentors (and my most influential and inspirational voice teacher) used to say this to me. And how right she was!

What she was referring to are our natural impulses and instincts, which are inclined toward success and pleasure, particularly sensual pleasure.

Please allow me to explain - I am a trained classical singer who did have quite an active performing career some years ago. A family tragedy and illness yanked me from my musical life and, after many years of struggle (which struggle I don’t advocate), I have arrived at my present incarnation, which is, of course, not fixed but always in flux.

Over and over again, through singing - both teaching and performing - I am reminded of our Human Naturalness - of the primal energy that yearns for expression. No, not "yearns for" - commands expression! Incites and ignites Expression! YES! And it functions "extra-temporally" - that is, outside of our feeble preconceived notions of Time.

I find that most of us in the world of alternative lifestyles are Components, Proponents and Exponents of the search for, the embracing - and honoring - of Human Naturalness, which I declare to be a manifestation of Eternity!

Eternity - defined in my mind/being as boundless possibility - as poetry - as existence without limitation - a state of being that exists outside of Time.

Check it out: I have experienced directly (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this) the physical merging with the meta-physical, the tangible with the intangible. I have felt it in different contexts, including the following occasions: when I have been engaged in profound conversation; when I've done a particularly inspired singing or dance performance; when I've participated in a joyful gathering; when I've been RELEASED to and by the power of thought and feeling (which might occur during writing, for instance); and of course, last, but, by no means least, while fucking gloriously.

And you see how I've returned to that Eternally fascinating and blessed subject of Sex? What gives sex its unique cache? Its precious mystery? Healthy sexual behavior has nothing to do with self-consciousness and all to do with self-awareness. Self-consciousness is a static condition of needfulness and limitation, whereas self-awareness is a mindset of natural motion and progression, possessing an inherent understanding of the inevitability of things - the individual sound within itself resonating with the frequency of the universe.

There is a sense of playfulness and abandon in healthy sexual behavior. And - ah yes! There is Supreme Naturalness!! Primal Energy!

This naturalness - this Primal Energy is Eternity, itself! Going back to the seed of creation. We hold it within ourselves, you see. Endless, eternal cycles of creation. An exquisite spiral of life and death, of receiving and loss. This jeweled spiral spins without stasis, casting limitless prismatic refractions that mix and mingle - ever onward reaching, but without struggle. The center remaining sound within itself and yet, ever-renewed by its natural and Eternal Revolution.

And so, I say unto you - let us not chase our own tails (or those of each other). But, instead, invite the Entire Being to come Naturally and by the Natural Evolution and Revolution of healthy, unabashed, sexually charged, and deeply honored self-expression. Amen...
