Iguana New york offers good Mexican cuisine. The interior has an authentic feel, so that you actually feel transported to Mexico when dining here. The guacamole is made fresh upon order and goes great with a cold Corona or one of the specialty mojitos. Iguana New York is a decent date restaurant, but what's makes Iguana New York special is that it also has a fantastic weekly cabaret show. Now, you wouldn't expect that at a Mexican restaurant. Richard Skipper, together with his cohosts, heads the lineup of cabaret performers every Wednesday nights from 8-11pm. It's a fun show with singing, dancing, and, of course, some funny exchanges between the performers and audience. The audience is a mix of gay and straight New Yorkers and tourists. Admission is $10 which is not expensive by NYC standards and is made even more affordable by not requiring a food or drink minimum. It's a fun evening and a throwback to old cabaret shows that we miss so much.
