- On any given Friday or Saturday night, you will find crowds lining up at Opal. Once inside, you'll see why: urban professionals slightly above the drinking age flock here for the daily drink specials, reasonably priced food menu, and dance room in the back. Opal does have the feel of a dirty frat house with drunk men on the prowl, but if you're looking to meet, mingle, and hook up, Opal is a great choice. The front room is a causal bar where you can get drinks and food, and meet people without competing with the DJ in the back room. Once you've meet a few people, go to the back for some dancing, to get a little more intimate with your new friend(s). Opal is a great place to go with a group of friends, too; but, on weekends and during happy hours, be prepared to elbow your way through the crowds. Some consider Opal to be just another midtown bar that caters to a younger scene. If you're part of that younger scene and aren't necessarily looking for refinement, then it shouldn't matter to you that, after a few drinks, Opal does begin to look like any other midtown watering hole. Opal may be nondescript, but it is set apart from other eastside bars by it's fun atmosphere, inexpensive drinks, and attractive clientele looking to party.
