I was really excited about going to a Moxie in the City event. Maybe it was their website which featured testimonials and photos that filled me with hope that I would meet some great men. The event also promised some fun shopping with vendors selling jewelry and lingerie. And, the event was going to be at a big club that, admittedly, had its heyday several years ago, but I was willing to keep an open mind. In case my confidence failed me, I dragged two friends along – a male and female in their 20's and also single.
Don’t be deceived by Moxie in the City which offers “Social/Networking Events and Workshops”. I only had to attend one of its events to know that I will not be going to another Moxie in the City event ever again!
The venue should have been the first red flag. It was dirty and empty. The event was held in a smaller room downstairs away from the main club, yet even this intimate room looked dirty and empty. We arrived fashionably late – an hour after the event started – but it was supposed to be a two-hour event. We naturally assumed that the party would be swinging by the time we arrived, but it wasn’t. Those who were at the event looked bored and detached. There were maybe 20-30 people at the event but that included the vendors who were selling cheap nylon panties and bra sets and ugly jewelry that my 4-year-old niece wouldn’t wear even while playing princess. No one mingled. Worst of all, no one from Moxie in the City was there to facilitate the mingling and ensure that guests were having a good time. When we asked the bartenders and vendors where we could find someone from Moxie in the City, we were told that they had left 30 minutes ago. It is a really bad sign when representatives of Moxie in the City themselves cannot stay at their own events.
It’s really hard to attend a dating event, but it’s even worse when the dating event itself sucks.

tigerwomanMoxie in the City is a scam, the owner Chris, is very rude and doesn't care about the events, she's basically a pimp for hire. I've spoken to several of her former employees who had difficulties getting paid by her, she will greedily take in the money for an event, but then is unable to pay the individual who performs the class. Chris (the owner of moxie) is very unprofessional and gets upset if you disagree with her on any of her blogs, she then proceeds to call you an idiot or worse if you don't agree with her lame advice. She pick some of the lamest event venues to hold her events, she is based in NY and not familiar with the sites of the other cities she books parties. Most of the sites, usually have no parking, difficult to get to, but what does she care as long as she gets her money. Stay away from any Moxie in the City event. I'm sure that there are other venues whereever you live that offer the same kinds of classes, that are better suited for you. Tell all your friends about how horrible this company is and do like I plan to do and report her to the Better Business Bureau. |
