  • As an occasional cigar smoker and single woman in my early 40s, I couldn’t help but notice that the Cigar Inn is frequented by a lot of attractive men. Tired of going to cooking or salsa classes where there is always a disproportionate number of men to women, I wanted to go somewhere where I could actually meet and mingle with a lot of men.

I went with friends and started in the humidor room. The friendly staff offered us a selection of cigars that suited our different tastes. And that’s where I met him - Lawrence. His back was turned to me, but I noticed his tall stature and serious search for the right cigar. Seizing this opportunity to start a conversation, I asked him for a recommendation. After a few minutes of discussing his suggestions, I invited him to join my group. He politely accepted, and we sat in the back area of the Cigar Inn which is ideal for sitting and/or mingling. The back area features several leather couches and a wall of windows overlooking an outdoor garden. It’s not a large area, and during peek weekend hours, it can get crowded and smoky, but it was empty enough that night – Saturday night around 11:30 pm – that we could all sit together.

Taking a break from Lawrence and our remarkable easy conversation, I went to the front to ask the friendly staff whether we could order drinks. The Cigar Inn does not have a liquor license (however, it does have an old-fashioned barber shop), but you can rent a wooden box ($500-$2000 approx. annual fee) along one of the walls and keep your own bar there, ready to consume whenever you and your guests come in for a cigar. This is a nice alternative to always taking your clients to a golf outing.

With that information, I rejoined Lawrence and suggested we rent a box together. Perhaps I was moving too fast, but he didn’t seem to mind. After about 45 minutes, my friends and I left the Cigar Inn, but not before I gave Lawrence my card. The Cigar Inn is the kind of place that all single women should frequent about once a month. It has a friendly, relaxed vibe, excellent cigar selections, and a male-clientele happy to engage in conversation.
